Any seat in the house was good on Tuesday night when Robin Ratliff rode an almost flawless class on the phenomenal Performance Stallion A Cappella's Carisma. By unanimous decision, Carisma became the Performance Stallion National Champion. How can one top a National Championship? By receiving a unanimous decision for Grand National Champion. On Thursday, Carisma, yet again, wowed the crowd and the judges with his quickness and action and won Performance Colts and Stallions Championship. Congratulations to Robin Ratliff the trainer and rider and John Solomon IV the owner. What an accomplishment! Not to be out done, Caliope Con Alas came back to win Reserve Grand National Champion Pleasure Mare. Great job Robin and congratulations to Denise Van Ness the owner.  Caliope is a spectacular mare. Congratulations to John Solomon V on achieving High Point Amateur Owner of the Year and winning the Amateur Owner Pleasure Mare National Championship class on Perla Negra de las Toscas. You deserve it!

All in all, it was a great show and a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone for a great year!

Congratulations to John Solomon IV on the accomplishments of his sensational performance stallion A Cappella's Carisma! Carisma placed second to Grand National Champion Simbolo JR, but only after fiercely competitive work-offs. Arguably the most exciting moments during the Asheville show were in the Performance Championship class on Saturday night during which, three horses were left on the rail for a work-off. It came down to A Cappella's Carisma ridden by Robin Ratliff and Simbolo JR ridden by Michael Bruce in head-to-head competition. In the end, Simbolo JR was awarded the championship ribbon, but there was no doubt in the arena that A Cappella's Carisma was a phenomenal performance stallion and a force to be reckoned with. In the Amateur Owner classes, John held his own placing second only to Simbolo JR ridden by Betty Goldman. These classes were a foreshadowing of things to come.
