El Pastor

El Pastor 1963-2000, PFHA National Foundation Sire – entitled 1974, PFHA Hall of Fame – inducted 2001, 20 times Top Ten Stallion, and the model for the Breyer mold of the Paso Fino, is to this day one of the most credited Paso Fino Stallions in history. 

El Pastor was purchased straight from quarantine by the Ratliff family. It was Henrietta and Robin who tamed this fiery young stallion and fine tuned his natural abilities.  El Pastor’s superb genetic makeup has had profound influence on the Paso Fino community; his get and grandget are currently breeding and are producing excellent foals.  In addition, many of his daughters are residing and producing at Greener Pastures Ranch. El Pastor’s credits include:

  • Grand National Champion – 2 times
  • National Champion – 8 times
  • Reserve National Champion – 7 times
  • Horse of the Year
  • Title of Proficiency
  • The foals of El Pastor have won in EVERY single show division from Fino to Agility.
  • A full 30% of his show children have won a first or second placement in a national championship show.
  • Based on these figures, 21% of all his children were National Champions or Reserve National Champions.
  • El Pastor sired 164 foals - 116 accrued show point credits.
